Hello everyone! My name is Harumi and I want to introduce all of you to the amazing world of washi tape! That is, if you haven't already been introduced to it yourself, on your own.
Washi tape is amazing for scrapbooking and all kinds of other arts and craft projects. If you like doing artsy or crafty things then you're absolutely going to love washi tape!
Just look at the image above there, look how cute the tape is! Yes, I know what you're thinking, "It's very cute" you're thinking, "but what am I going to use it for and why do I need it?"
Let's start off by talking about what it is exactly. Washi tape is a special kind of tape that's almost like masking tape. It comes from Japan and is tape made out of a special kind of Japanese paper called washi. Washi literally means Japanese paper just in case you were wondering. Yeah, I know, it's not the most exciting name.
Washi paper is a traditional kind of paper that was invented in Japan hundreds of years ago. It's made using a very traditional process out of traditional Japanese plants although in recent years it's been made out of materials such as rice, wheat or even hemp. Man you can use hemp for anything but that's another story...
Anyways, what makes washi tape incredibly special, I mean in addition to all the cute colours and patterns it comes in is it's usefulness. You can stick it to pretty much any surface, remove it without leaving any residue and then stick it somewhere else, good as new!
It comes in literally any pattern you could possibly think of. Animals, plants, shapes, stripes, diamonds, flowers, anything!
You can also use it for literally any use or craft project you can think of too. You can cover an old desk with it to make it super colourful and happy. You can put it on book covers, use it in your daily agenda book or planner, use it as wallpaper, make little flags to decorate food and more!
All you need to do is jump onto a site like Flickr or Pinterest and you'll see a ridiculous number of washi tape projects to inspire you!
Now I bet you're sold and you want to know where you can buy it. That's easy, you can find it at any craft store such as Michaels or even dollar stores. You can also buy it online and a quick Google search for washi tape will show you all kinds of places to buy it from.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there, get some washi tape and start crafting!
